All proceeds from this event benefit The Hands of Hope Foundation & Herrin House of Hope’s new PHASE 2 PROJECT. This project includes the development of our new Herrin House of HopeCommodities Distribution Center, Hope Community Wellness GAP Clinic & Hope Emergency Shelter. These will run alongside our current Herrin House of Hope Meal Program, Thrift Store, Food Distribution Program, Children’s Summer Feeding Program, AmeriCorps Job Training Program and GED Program in partnership with J.A. Logan.

Gilley’s at Choctaw Casino and Resort presents Indie Country/Americana band, The Close, a harmony-focused collective of introspective lyricists who pen genre-blending melodies wrapped in stellar harmonies. The Close has been selected to play the Choctaw Nation Labor Day Festival 2024 on August 31st and will play the Choctaw Casino in Durant on Sept 1st!
Described as “A wall of mesmerizing sound coming straight at you”, The Close absolutely shine in a live setting, where they are as dynamic as they are intimate in their connection with their listeners.
The Close’s music is a fusion of various genres, including Americana, contemporary folk, roots, and country, all infused with a commercial pop sensibility. This unique blend allows them to create a sound that is both familiar and fresh, appealing to a wide range of listeners.
The Close released their debut full-length album titled Orbit on Oct 27th. The highly anticipated album is expected to showcase the growth and evolution of The Close’s sound while staying true to their signature style.

The Choctaw people have gathered on the grounds of the Choctaw Capitol for many years during the Labor Day weekend to celebrate family, fellowship together and to honor Choctaw traditions. As in Labor Days past, the weekend schedule is packed full of events to accommodate those who enjoy sporting events, traditional events like gourd dancing, princess pageants, or just family time on the grounds.
Enjoy cultural events like stickball games and the princess contest, concerts, arts and crafts, a free 5k run and much more! Join us Sunday for Church services and stay for the all-day Chahta gospel singing. Our Labor Day weekend will be a great experience for everyone as we fellowship together and honor our Choctaw traditions.
